Science is logic.
A theory in science is a logical product.
Based on relatively accurate experimental data, it serves for a deeper understanding of the laws of nature and the universe.
However, a scientific theory may not always reflect the absolute truth. The truth is that a particular current scientific theory of the present time only represents the totality of our current knowledge. The real truth may turn out to be completely different, and it is possible that we just lack our knowledge.
A scientific discovery can completely disprove a certain scientific theory and force scientists to start all over again.
One such example is the development of human knowledge about the solar system
As you know, in the second century AD, the Greek philosopher Ptolemy put forward the theory that the Earth is at the center of the universe and that the Sun, Moon and other planets revolve around the Earth. It was the simplest astronomical observation of the time and a satisfactory theory for social consciousness in general.
But in the introduction of the 17th century
the Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei began to observe the Universe with a telescope, and he proved that Ptolemy's views were actually wrong and that the Solar System had a completely different picture. In his observations, Galileo noticed details that corresponded to the new theories put forward by the Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus a century earlier. The Copernican theory described the current picture of the solar system. That is, the Sun is in the center, and the Earth and other planets revolve around the Sun. Since then, many other observations and experiments, especially space exploration, have proven the heliocentric model of the universe to be correct.
From the group of theories that have lost their validity, the theory that the Earth is flat and that it is supported by elephants and oxen; we can also recall the phlogiston theory, which tried to explain the nature of fire.
In our modern science
all advanced theories can become obsolete and be replaced by modern theories. Therefore, it is somewhat wrong to look at evolutionary theories as truth.
